How to Redeem a Steam Wallet Code
These steps follow the Steam Wallet FAQ on Steam Support:
- Log in to the Steam account you want to top up. Steam Wallet funds cannot be gifted, withdrawn or transferred to another account, so double-check the account before redeeming.
- Open the Redeem a Steam Gift Card or Wallet Code page at
store.steampowered.com/account/redeemwalletcode. - Enter the code in the “Steam Wallet Code” field and click Continue.
- Check your balance in the upper right corner, next to your profile name. The funds are applied to your next purchases.
If your balance does not cover the whole cart, Steam asks for another payment method to pay the rest, with options based on your region.

According to Steam Support, codes often fail because of characters that look alike:

Steam Wallet Currency and Region Rules
- Codes convert to your wallet currency. The Steam redeem page says gift cards and wallet codes are converted to the currency of your Steam Wallet upon redemption, regardless of where they were purchased.
- Still match the code to your account. In the Steam Wallet FAQ, Valve lists “limiting redemption to be in the currency of your Steam wallet” among its anti-scam measures. For an Indonesian account with a Rupiah wallet, an IDR code is the safe choice; for a Malaysian account, an MYR code.
- New wallets get their currency from your address. If your account has never had a wallet balance, Steam may ask for your current address to set the wallet currency. If you already have a wallet, whatever the balance, funds are added in its current currency.
- Codes do not change your region. Your store country is set by the location of your first Steam purchase and is shown on the Account Details page. You can only change it once every 3 months with a payment method from the new country, and wallet codes or CD keys cannot be used to change it.
Steam Refund Rules Worth Knowing During a Sale
From the Steam refund policy:
- 14 days, under 2 hours. Games can be refunded for any reason if requested within 14 days of purchase with less than 2 hours of playtime. You get Steam Wallet funds or a refund to the payment method you used.
- Bought just before the sale? Steam does not consider it abuse to refund a game bought just before a sale and immediately buy it again at the sale price.
- Wallet credit takes time. Approved Wallet credit may take 24 to 48 hours to appear, so if you want to reuse it before Friday 00:00 WIB, request the refund early.
- Third-party wallet cards are not refundable through Steam. Wallet funds can only be refunded if bought on Steam, within 14 days and unused. Valve cannot refund purchases made outside Steam, including wallet cards from third parties, so choose code amounts that match your plans.

- Sort your wishlist with categories. Since July 2026, Steam wishlists support custom categories, and wishlist notifications can be limited to certain categories. Make one for your sale targets.

- Add up your cart first. Pick a code amount, or combine several codes, so the balance fits your plan, since redeemed funds stay on that account.
