From 2027, the Free Fire World Series (FFWS) in Southeast Asia will no longer be one regional league. Garena is splitting it into four national leagues, FFWS Indonesia, FFWS Thailand, FFWS Vietnam and FFWS Malaysia, and each one sends teams straight to the FFWS Global Finals 2027. Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam each get two direct slots for their champion and runner-up, Malaysia gets one, and the last Southeast Asian slot goes through a 12-team Last Chance Qualifier. The four leagues share a USD 1.4 million prize pool across two seasons. Garena announced the change in a press release on Monday, October 12, 2026, followed by the official FFWS 2027 video on October 13. The 2027 schedule has not been announced yet.

What Changes in FFWS 2027

Since 2024, the best teams from Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam and Malaysia have met in FFWS SEA, a regional league held twice a year (Spring and Fall), with eight Southeast Asian teams moving on to the Global Finals. Its final season, FFWS SEA 2026 Fall, ended with a grand final in Surabaya on September 20, won by Bigetron by Vitality.

In 2027 that regional stage disappears. The official video calls the new setup “four local FFWS leagues”, each with its own stage and rivalries, all building toward the Global Finals. According to Garena’s press release, each country runs two seasons in 2027, and Southeast Asia keeps eight Global Finals slots, the same as before. The video description sums it up: “8 spots for Southeast Asia at FFWS Global Finals 2027.”

The practical effect: a team no longer has to beat the best of three other countries in one league to earn a direct ticket. The direct slots are now decided at home, and the only cross-border stage left is the Last Chance Qualifier.

FFWS 2027 Global Finals Slots by Country

The breakdown below comes from the “FFWS GF 2027 Southeast Asia’s Qualification Path” and prize pool graphics in Garena’s official video:

FFWS ThailandChampion and runner-up (2)Ranks 3 to 5 (3 teams)USD 200,000
FFWS VietnamChampion and runner-up (2)Ranks 3 to 5 (3 teams)USD 200,000
FFWS MalaysiaChampion (1)Ranks 2 to 4 (3 teams)USD 100,000
Total7 slots12 teams for 1 slotUSD 700,000

Last Chance Qualifier: 12 Teams, 1 Ticket

The eighth slot is decided at a regional Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ). Its 12 teams are the third to fifth placed sides from FFWS Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam, plus the second to fourth placed sides from FFWS Malaysia. Finishing third in your national league therefore keeps the Global Finals dream alive, but only one of those 12 teams gets through. The announced format does not mention any route for teams placed sixth or lower.

FFWS 2027 Prize Pool: USD 1.4 Million

Garena describes the 2027 Southeast Asia prize pool as upsized. The split per season:

  • FFWS Indonesia, FFWS Thailand and FFWS Vietnam: USD 200,000 each.
  • FFWS Malaysia: USD 100,000.
  • Total: USD 700,000 per season, or USD 1.4 million for the two seasons of 2027.

Prize distribution by placement has not been published.

What Garena Has Not Announced Yet

Garena’s press release says details of the 2027 FFWS leagues, including the schedule and match format, will be revealed soon. As of October 17, 2026, these are still missing from official channels:
