GTA 6 Pre-Load Starts November 10: 212 GB File Size and Release Time
GTA 6 pre-load opens on Tuesday, November 10, 2026, two days earlier than the November 12 date Take-Two gave when pre-orders opened in June. On PS5, digital pre-loading starts at midnight local time, while on Xbox Series X|S it starts worldwide at the same moment: 00:00 GMT, which is 07:00 WIB and 08:00 in Malaysia, Singapore, and the Philippines. The pre-load file needs up to 212 GB depending on your device, and the game launches on Thursday, November 19, 2026. Rockstar confirmed all of this in its Newswire post “Grand Theft Auto VI Pre-Load Begins on November 10”, published on the evening of November 3, 2026 (Southeast Asia time).
GTA 6 Pre-Load and Launch Schedule

The GTA VI page on PS Store Indonesia now lists “9-Day Pre-load” for both the Standard Edition and the Ultimate Edition, which matches the November 10 to 19 window. Take-Two’s June 2026 pre-order press release still says pre-loading begins November 12; Rockstar’s new schedule replaces it. Launch platforms are still PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only, as covered in our GTA 6 official platforms article.
GTA 6 File Size: Clear at Least 212 GB
Rockstar says the pre-load file will require up to 212 GB depending on your device. The PlayStation Blog is more direct for PS5 owners: clear a minimum of 212 GB of storage, and consider expanding your PS5 storage before launch. A separate figure for Xbox Series X or Series S has not been published in the official announcements.
Pre-loading means downloading the game files ahead of launch; you still cannot play early. On PS5, a pre-ordered game shows a countdown timer to release in the Game Library. Once the timer ends, you can jump in without waiting for a download of that size, which matters most on slower connections. Starting on November 10 gives you nine days.
How to Pre-Load GTA 6 on PS5
The PlayStation Blog recommends making sure your PlayStation account is set up and signed in on your console, then pre-ordering through PlayStation Store or a participating retailer. After that, set up automatic downloads following the official PlayStation guide:
- Go to Settings > Saved Data and Game/App Settings > Automatic Updates and turn on Auto-Download.
- To let downloads run in rest mode, go to Settings > System > Power Saving > Features Available in Rest Mode and turn on Stay Connected to the Internet.
- From your games home, open Game Library and select your GTA VI pre-order. A countdown timer to release appears.
- Select the timer, make sure the content you want is checked for auto-download, then select OK.
According to that guide, pre-ordered content starts downloading as soon as it is available, so you can simply leave your PS5 in rest mode from the night of November 9.
GTA 6 Pre-Load on Xbox Series X|S
Xbox does not follow local midnight. Pre-loading opens globally on November 10 at 00:00 GMT, which is 07:00 WIB or 08:00 MYT/SGT. Rockstar points players to the Rockstar Support site for step-by-step pre-load instructions on both PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
GTA 6 Physical Copies Contain a Download Code, From November 12
According to Take-Two’s press release, the physical version of GTA 6 contains a download code inside the box. Rockstar says code-in-box versions for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S should be available from retailers beginning November 12. In practice, physical buyers can only start downloading once they have that code, and they still need the same free storage.

A double-sided physical version of the poster will also be available from the Rockstar Store shortly after launch, for US$0.99 on its own or as a free gift with any Rockstar Store purchase.
