Wang Wei HOK Release Date: Skills, Combos and Build for October 8
Wang Wei, the next new hero in Honor of Kings, arrives on the global server on Thursday, October 8, 2026. He is a Mage recommended for the Mid Lane, and his signature move is the ultimate: he sends a mist hairpin flying freely across the Gorge, then teleports to it to strike. The release date comes from the official Season 16 patch notes, and the skills, combos and build below come from the New Hero Wang Wei | Skill Tutorial video that the official Honor of Kings channel posted today, Saturday, October 3, 2026. The video carries a note that it was recorded during development, so small details may still change at launch.
When Does Wang Wei Release in HOK Global?
The Season 16 patch notes say “Wang Wei will be arriving on 10/08” and describe him as a hero who “can turn into a cloud of mist, traversing through the Gorge freely”. His official motion poster introduces his title, Mist Sage, with the line “10/08 Coming Soon”. At the time of writing, the exact release hour and his price have not been announced.

Wang Wei’s Role: A Roaming Mid Lane Mage
The official tutorial calls Wang Wei “a mage with strong support abilities” who “excels at cross-map roaming, with sustained poke and strong kiting in team fights”. It also warns that he “has a flexible kit, yet is vulnerable if left exposed”, so the advice is to time your entry to deal damage without taking too much risk.
In the lore, Wang Wei is the reclusive Headmaster of Mount Jing Academy and the legendary Master Mojie of Chang’an. The Five Excellences of Mount Jing poster names five friends who once planted a red berry tree at Mount Jing: Wang Zhaojun, Li Zhaoling, Xu Shiji, Gao Huaiji and Wang Wei. In the “Unveiled” PV, Di Renjie follows the trail of Lady Li’s Sweeping Fire spear to Mount Jing Academy and ends up facing his former teacher.
Wang Wei HOK Skills Explained
| Slot | Skill | What it does (official video) |
|---|---|---|
| Passive | Shifting Mists | Gains marks over time. At 5 marks, he dodges the next hit |
| Skill 1 | Misty Mountain | Creates a Misty Mountain at the target location that deals continuous magical damage and slows enemies inside, then erupts after a short delay for extra magical damage |
| Skill 2 | Endless River | Sends a river in the target direction that deals magical damage and knocks enemies back. It splits into tributaries that chase enemies, dealing damage and slowing them |
| Ultimate | One With All | Unleashes a mist hairpin that flies across the Gorge and damages enemies in its path. Recast to teleport to the hairpin |
Shifting Mists and Misty Mountain
Marks build up automatically, and faster while he stands inside Misty Mountain. That makes Skill 1 one of his key defensive tools, not just a damage skill. One naming note: the skill card in the global video labels the passive “Formless as Mist”, while the narration (and the Indonesian video) call it “Shifting Mists”. Check the final name in game after launch.
Endless River and Misty Mountain Interaction
This is where most of Wang Wei’s damage comes from. When the river flows past Misty Mountain, it orbits the mountain and keeps pulling enemies in. After one full circuit, the river accelerates, surges forward and detonates the mountain early to deal damage.
One With All
The ultimate lasts longer at higher skill levels. When you recast it, Wang Wei teleports to the hairpin’s current position, deals heavy magical damage on arrival, then repeatedly attacks random enemies in range while entering the Misty Mountain state. During the ultimate, Skill 1 becomes Mist Rider (a brief burst of speed) and Skill 2 becomes Churning Mists (changes his flight direction). His real body stays where you cast the ultimate until you recast, which is why the tutorial pairs him with Flash for emergencies.
Wang Wei Combos and Skill Order
In lane, use Skill 1 and Skill 2 together to poke your opponent while building passive marks. When you rotate to a team fight, use the ultimate’s flight to get there quickly, then combine Misty Mountain and Endless River for control and damage. For skill upgrades, the tutorial says to level the ultimate whenever possible from level 4 onward, and otherwise prioritize Skill 1.
| Combo | Order | How to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Combo 1 | 3, 3, 1, 2 | Fly in with the ultimate, recast to land, place Misty Mountain, then use Endless River to keep enemies in the area and maximize the mountain’s damage |
| Combo 2 | 1, 2, 3, 3 | Start with Misty Mountain, send Endless River around it to trigger the interaction, win the trade, then ultimate to chase down low-health enemies |
The recommended Common Skill is Flash, which gives him more control over where he enters a fight and can get him out of danger.
Official Wang Wei Build and Arcana
| Slot | Item | Reason given in the video |
|---|---|---|
| Boots | Boots of Tranquility | Skill cooldown reduction |
| Alternative boots | Boots of the Arcane | More damage and Mana recovery |
| Core 1 | Venomous Staff | Supports rotations to the side lanes and cuts the healing of enemy fighters and supports |
| Core 2 | Mask of Agony | Stronger sustained damage |
| 3 | Insatiable Tome | More magic sustain, so he can use the ultimate more often to roam |
| 4 | Frozen Breath | Makes his slows harder to escape |
| 5 | Void Staff | Pushes his magic damage higher |
For Arcana, the video recommends 10 Nightmare, 10 Tribute and 10 Hunt, which balances magical damage with cooldown reduction, while the Movement Speed bonus fits his agile roaming style.
