League of Legends Final: South Korea Take Gold

South Korea won the best-of-five final at Aichi Sky Expo Hall D 3-0. It was a rematch of the Hangzhou 2022 final, which South Korea won against Chinese Taipei.

According to Liquipedia, South Korea fielded Zeus, Canyon, Faker, Gumayusi and Keria, with Zeka as the substitute; Faker (Lee Sanghyeok) was also part of the Korean team that won gold in Hangzhou. Chinese Taipei’s lineup was 1Jiang, JunJia, HongQ, Doggo and ShiauC. The result means South Korea keep the Asian Games League of Legends title and add a second esports gold in Aichi-Nagoya after fighting games.

In the semifinals on Thursday, October 1, Chinese Taipei beat Vietnam 2-0 and South Korea beat Saudi Arabia 2-0. There was no third-place match, so Vietnam and Saudi Arabia both took bronze. Indonesia did not enter a League of Legends team.

An Improvement on Hangzhou 2022

At Hangzhou 2022 (held in 2023), the first Asian Games with esports as a medal sport, Indonesia did not win an esports medal; their best result was fourth place in PUBG Mobile. The two silvers in Aichi-Nagoya are therefore Indonesia’s first Asian Games esports podiums since esports became a medal sport.

After the Games, the focus in Indonesia moves back to MPL ID Season 18, where Alter Ego, the club behind most of the national MLBB roster, face NAVI on Saturday, October 3 at 14:00 WIB (15:00 SGT/MYT). The full weekend schedule is in our MPL ID S18 week 7 guide. If you play while you watch, you can top up Mobile Legends diamonds or PUBG Mobile UC on ItemGame with just your player ID.
