Riot Games will shut down League Classic on Wednesday, 6 January 2027, roughly five months after the nostalgia mode launched in patch 26.15. The /dev: League Classic article of 14 October 2026 also lists four changes for players in the region: Classic queues on the Southeast Asia (SEA) and Vietnam servers will only open at set hours, Classic Pass Act II is free from Wednesday, 21 October 2026 at 01:00 WIB (02:00 Malaysia and Singapore time), the Classic Store sells only champions, runes and rune pages from patch 26.21, and Classic-only cosmetics you bought are refunded in RP, with Classic Portrait refunds due by 30 November 2026.

Why Riot Is Closing League Classic

League Classic arrived in patch 26.15 (29 July 2026, Pacific Time) as a mode that recreates early League, using Season 3 as its anchor. It launched with 60 champions (the original 40 plus 20 released between 2009 and 2013) on pre-rework kits, old items such as Atma’s Impaler and Frozen Mallet, and the old Runes and Masteries, unlocked just by playing. Players vote through The Council on which champions come next.

According to Riot, most players have gone back to other parts of League, so in several regions Classic queues became very long and MMR gaps grew large. Riot aims to bring Classic back later, likely as an event mode with adjustments, but has given no date.

League Classic Queue Hours on SEA and Vietnam Servers

Southeast Asia and Vietnam are on the list of regions moving to a windowed queue. Since January 2025, accounts from Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines and Thailand have played on one SEA server, as covered in our guide to buying LoL RP on PC.

RegionClassic queue hours
Korea, Latin America North, Latin America South, Taiwan, Vietnam, Turkey, Southeast Asia, Oceania, RussiaMonday to Friday 4 pm to 12 am; Saturday and Sunday 10 am to 1 am (server time)
JP1 (Japan) and ME1 (Middle East)Custom matches only, from the start of patch 26.21

Riot gives these hours in “server time” with no WIB or MYT/SGT conversion, so check when the queue opens in the client. The table is labelled “upcoming”, and Riot points players to the patch notes for details. Classic custom games stay open at all times in every region.

Classic Pass Act II: Free, Six Tiers

Classic Pass Act II has no passive XP. You clear Classic Missions for Classic Pass Coins, then spend them on rewards in your current tier; at least 125 coins must be spent in a tier to unlock the next one.

TierRewards (coin cost)
11 random champion (70), Classic Graves icon (30), Heart of Gold title (80), Smokescreen emote (50)
2Classic Galio icon (60), Teleggport emote (30), 10 Random Skinned Runes (40)
31 rune page (50), Classic Caitlyn icon (60), Better Nerf Irelia title (35)
4Classic Fiora icon (60), 10 Random Skinned Runes (40), Classic Baron emote (50)
51 random champion (60), Classic Poppy icon (70), Runs on a Potato emote (30), SMITE! icon (20)
61 random skin worth 520 to 1,350 RP (200), Singed Portrait (60), 10 Random Skinned Runes (40)

Random Skinned Runes only change how runes look, not their stats. If you own every champion released up to patch 26.20, each random champion becomes 1,000 Blue Essence. The tier 6 random skin costs 200 coins, the most expensive reward in the pass, so save coins before progress closes on 5 January 2027.

New Classic Champions Until Patch 26.23

Classic keeps getting old-version champions until patch 26.23:

  • Patch 26.20: Aatrox, Caitlyn, Irelia, Karma and Quinn (already live).
  • Patch 26.21: Mordekaiser, Yorick, Hecarim and Lucian.
  • Through patch 26.23: new champions every patch, including Volibear, Urgot and Udyr, the top three in the latest Council poll.

Patch 26.20 is also the patch used at Worlds 2026; the full schedule is in our Worlds 2026 schedule in WIB/SGT.

What to Do Before 6 January 2027

  1. Finish Classic Missions and spend your coins before Tuesday, 5 January 2027 at 14:59 WIB (15:59 MYT/SGT). Riot also suggests levelling up your Classic Account first.
  2. Play within the SEA or Vietnam queue hours, or use custom games with friends.
  3. If you bought Classic Portraits or chromas, check your RP balance; if a portrait refund has not arrived by 30 November 2026, open a Player Support ticket.

RP still covers champions and skins in the regular modes. Indonesian accounts can top up RP for League of Legends PC with a Riot ID and tagline on ItemGame whenever they need it.
